GEEVESTON - TASMANIA
One of the popular destinations from Geeveston is the Tahune Forest Airwalk on the Arve River Road. The elevated walk meanders through the rainforest treetops along a dedicated walk.
An important base for the timber industry, especially those based on the highly productive eucalyptus and rainforests of the hinterland, Geeveston is also the gateway to the Hartz Mountains National Park (21km). A significant attraction, the Esperance Forest and Heritage Centre has accounts of the area's history, including details of conservation battles, demonstrations of woodturning and other craft skills and interpreted forest walks.

What to See and Do:
Visit the Forest and Heritage Centre, see Huon Pine on walks in the Tahune Forest Reserve, which has good picnic and BBQ facilities (30km), or rock climb in the Hartz Mountains.
If you want to see what a fine craftsman can do with Huon Pine and other specialty Tasmanian timbers I suggest you call in to the Southern Forest Furniture Gallery to see all sorts of items from wall units to beds to coffee table and clocks. A regular market is held in the rear of the store and display area.
